Sharing the WWD Experience using Video Marketing

This month we were delighted to work on a networking breakfast event organised by Women Who Do. These networking events are the perfect opportunity for women entrepreneurs to meet up for a coffee, have breakfast together and exchange information about their growing businesses. Women Who Do was founded by Emma Downey - her aim is to connect, support and encourage women in their career.

Our mission was to film one of their breakfast networking events taking place in Winchester.  Since video marketing is one of the most effective ways to promote a  brand, our objective was to make a promotional film that made people aware of the events, gave an understanding as to how they operated and encouraged new people to come and try an event for the first time. Going to networking meetings can be daunting for some people, so having a video to watch beforehand can help take the stress out of trying something new.

In this video we had Emma and the other participants of the networking event talking on camera to explain the concept and to give their impressions. The “talking head” style interviews were filmed in 4K. This is useful during the post-editing process,  as it allows you to crop in on the faces for a more close-up effect, without any reduction in the quality of the video. We also filmed footage stabilised with a gimbal, and  took shots of the breakfast food, drinks and participants engaged in the event. This gives us “B-roll” footage - background video imagery of the location and people talking - that can be integrated later into the final edit. It is very useful to give an audience a real feel for the tone of an event. We also included testimonials from participants - we wanted future attendees to be able to imagine themselves taking part in an event.

The resulting event video will help Emma to connect with her audience. Hopefully, potential attendees will have a better understanding of what happens at a typical networking meeting, and be encouraged to come along to the next event. If you are organising an event within your company, maybe you could get this professionally filmed too? Event films are a great way to showcase what your company does, especially to potential customers!
